Come stay at Three Lakes Motel

Since 1962, this motel has been greeting guests and is an oasis along a lengthy span of US Highway 41. Our 10-room motel can be an overnight stop on a long journey or a base for your vacation or other activities.

All rooms were completely remodeled in 2017 to provide a comfortable stay with the modern conveniences of DirectTV, WiFi, USB ports, mini fridge, microwave, and more.

A four-season motel, we welcome guests that are traveling through, visiting the universities, doing business in the area, following the Lake Superior Circle tour, and others coming to fish, hike, bicycle, motorcycle, hunt, take waterfall tours, rock hunt and so much more.

In the winter we are on a connecting trail (spur) to state snowmobile Trail #8 where you can ride the U.P. right from your room. We also serve as a convenient stop for those skiing (think Mount Bohemia) and enjoying winter festivals like the Ice Carnival in Houghton.

We are an updated mom n’ pop motel that offers a great comfortable room at a reasonable price.

Important notes when planning your stay

When booking your stay please, know that we are located in Three Lakes, Michigan (not Three Lakes, Wisconsin). We are located five miles West of Michigamme, Michigan on US Hwy 41.
Reminder: We are located in the Eastern Time Zone.
The motel office is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily (we are on-site for pre-arranged late check ins).
A complimentary continental breakfast is available in the office from 7 – 10 a.m.
Check-In is at 3 p.m. EST
Check-Out is 10 a.m. EST
If you plan to arrive after 9 p.m. please call the office to make arrangements to get into your room.
If you need to modify or cancel your reservation, but did not make it on www.threelakesmotel.com (our website is bookable for direct reservations) you must contact your reservation provider to make the changes. If you do not cancel with your reservation provider, your credit card will be charged the cancel penalty quoted by that site.
Note: We do not take pre-payment for any reservations regardless of what site you book on. Your credit card will be charged upon check-in. A credit card is required even if you are paying cash.
Restaurant and gas station options in our area are limited so please plan accordingly.
All rooms are non-smoking rooms. When smoking outdoors please be courteous of other guests and do not smoke near open windows or doors.
Reminder, although we love our furry friends, we do not allow pets. If a pet has been found to be in the room, the cleaning charge is a minimum of $250.00 and will be charged to the card on file. We happily accommodate medical service dogs, but please note that emotional support animals do not fall into that category.
Lost & Found: Items left on motel property will be held for 14 days. Unclaimed items will be donated or discarded after 14 days. We are happy to send your items to a designated address and will charge the credit card on file for all applicable packing and shipping charges.
